My organic t-shirt and certificate
I Won an award from Cool Green Attitude for the things I do for the environment. I had an organic t-shirt, a big certificate, two bookmarks and a letter.
The letter said:
“Hello my dear Eco-Friend Verona,
I am delighted to inform you that you are the winner of my Cool Green Attitude Award. We are all very happy to hear about all the wonderful kind and caring things that you have been doing in the world to help make it a better place.
You should be VERY PROUD of yourself and I know you will continue to behave as an excellent role model to show the other kids how easy and rewarding it is to recycle, reduce and reuse as much as we can to keep our planet a safe, heatlthy and beautiful place to live.
You are now one of my eco-pioneers and I hope you wear your Cool Green Attitude Organic T-shirt with produce and look upon your award with a sense of accomplishment. Well done!
Your Eco-Friend,
Buddy”
I feel really really pleased with myself and I love how soft the t-shirt is. I’m most proud of when I have balloons that have gone down, instead of throwing them into the landfill or throwing them as litter I untie the knots and blow them back up again!
I like reminding Mummy to take her bags and boxes to the shop so that we don’t take plastic carrier bags. I help Mummy to weigh our rubbish each week so that we don’t make too much rubbish. I talk to people about zero waste and ask them how much they recycle and I pick up litter if I see it.
I don’t think I do much really, but Mummy says I do a lot without even realising it.

I’m sharing “Danger in the dark” by Holly Webb. It’s an old book that Mummy had when she was little. It’s so old we can’t find it anywhere on the internet.
Tony, Norman, David, Heather, Donna Joy, Judith are the children. The grown ups are Georgina and Mr Mclver. They all have a car accident and shelter in an old forgotten, haunted cottage which floods and the water comes up to their knees.
Luckily they have food, a gas stoves, sleeping bags and rugs with them. Tony and Heather try and get help but they can’t find anybody.
The second time they go out they find a woman in a shop who phones the police. The Police come and Norman, who has been unconscious, Georgina who hurt her foot in the car accident and Mr Mclver all go to hospital.
My favourite character is their dog because she is very cute; she is big and black like a bear. My favourite part of the story was when Judith nearly drowned in the water and the dog rescued her.
I didn’t like it when Norman fell over in a puddle and was unconscious because it was sad.
I liked this book because it was a bit scary but it had a happy ending.

Building dens at playrangers
Throughout the holiday, playrangers is still going on. But instead of 4pm-6pm it is 10am-4pm
This week was den building and fire lighting but we didn’t do fire lighting, which was a bit surprising.
Den building did happen and 3 dens were built. I found an old one that had been made before so I used it. I slashed back nettles and brambles so that I could get in.
Then I added a doorstep from fern and nettles, I made a toilet which was a dirty plastic bag hung on two branches, my friend made a washing line from a branch. There were two entrances to my den which is useful in case one grows over completely.
The other den was made from hazel sticks; its sticks were across two branches and had leaves on. On one side there was also sticks across it and a little entrance to get through. It was quite good; it was definately windproof and is nearly completely rain proof from all the trees.
