I’ve been reading “Gobbo the Great” by Gillian Cross. In it, pupils at a school do a project on what the world will be like in 100 years time.
Some children have the idea of making newspapers about future news, some draw pictures of
fashion, other make a slang dictionary of future words and my favourite idea is the futurescope.
It’s a kind of machine with peep holes where you can see into the future.
I decided I wanted to build a fashionscope.
I’ve been drawing pictures of different sorts of fashion - three of my favourites are here.
After I have done my drawings, I’m going to make models of them. Mummy bought me some modelling clay, but it wasn’t quite right. I could make figures of my drawings that lie down, but I need them to stand up. The clay was too soft; like plasticine.
Mummy suggested we get some modelling beeswax. I used to use this when I was younger to make shapes and decorate candles with. It is harder and I’ll be able to make 3D models.
Next, I’m going to put each model into an old jam jar and find something to use as pipes to attach to them. Daddy will help me with that bit.

Alice through the looking glass
One of my Quest Seeker books is “Alice through the looking glass” by Lewis Carroll. It’s a new edition with illustrations by Helen Oxenbury.
Alice is very talkative and she talks to her kitten and suddenly her mirror gets shimmery and she steps through into anotherroom.
She doesn’t seem at all surprised, she goes out of the room into the garden and tries to climb up the hill. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t do it. She meets a Red Queen, goes in the opposite direction and Alice finds herself walking up the hill!
They go up to a great big forest. Alice thinks looking down over the hill is like a game of draughts.
The red Queen and Alice stand by a tree and begin to run. The Queen keeps saying ‘faster, faster, faster!’ and tugs Alice’s hand. But Alice can’t go any faster. At last they both stop, tired out. The Queen shook her head disapprovingly at Alice and told her she needed to run faster otherwise she would not get anywhere in this land.
Alice realised they were still by the same tree!
It has lovely illustrations and my best part so far was when Alice tells kitty off because I like naughty parts in books and it’s very funny. My favourite character is the rabbit because he is funny, jolly and silly.
The thing I like least is was when Alice was talking to Humpty Dumpty for too long and I got bored.

All signed up for Quest Seekers
I’m all signed up to do our local library’s Quest Seeker challenge.
Raj, Belle and Louis, have to search for a golden book. Cadmus, the gatekeeper, sets them tasks to bring back the golden book – and every time I read a book from my library I get a sticker to put on my poster.
There are three tasks and I have to read 2 books to complete each task. The library assistants keep joking that I will have finished the challenge in one night because I always read so many books!
I’ve chosen my first books; I’ll be talking about one for my Monday Book share post and my name is on the wall in the library along with all the other children who are taking part.
At the end of the challenge you get a certificate and medal to say you completed it and other things throughout the challenge like stickers.
I’m taking part because I enjoy reading books. I’m most looking forward to finding some new mystery and adventure books to read.
I think most libraries are taking part, so you can join in too!
