My first lapbook - all about me!
I made my first lapbook. A lapbook is where you make lots of mini books and then you put them inside a big folder.
The folder is so big you have to rest it on your lap to read it - that’s why it’s called a lapbook.
My first lapbook was all about me. I’ve written things like what I was like as a baby, some of my favourite things to do, things I don’t like and I’ve written a letter to myself which I open in 20 years time!
I’m now working on a Beatrix Potter lapbook because she was one of the first authors I learned to read and I like her stories about animals.

Open it up and see all the mini books inside

See what is inside each mini book!

Hope and the super green highway
I bought the sequel to Hope and the magic Martian for Verona and we’ve been enjoying it for the past few days.
I’m reading her a chapter a night before bed - she loves that ritual and so do I; it’s a great day to end our day by connecting with the power of a story.
“Hope and the super green highway” begins with Hope and her family browsing the local market when a tree frog, which has come across the world in a box of bananas causes a commotion! Hope, being an animal lover wants to keep the frog; who she promptly names Fingal, but her parents convince her the frog will be better cared for in the local zoo.
We’ve only got to chapter 3, and the book is set almost in a futuristic setting, though not too far from the things that might be normal here on planet earth soon! Hope’s family have Ice Cap Carbon rationing credits to spend on treats. Local, seasonal food is cheaper to buy, but bananas, which have travelled over 5000 miles are £7.50 per kilo.
The family drive around in an eco friendly ‘Go Car!’ from a car share car club, which enables them to drive in special designated lanes on the highway and have reserved parking spaces. In the third chapter, Hope’s Mum has to pedal an exercise bike to power the computer in the house!
We don’t yet know what is in store for Hope and her family, or for Fingal the Tree Frog, but we’re certainly enjoying reading about them and their life!
