Eating waffles for breakfast

Eating waffles for breakfast

I came downstairs yesterday to more snow. I’m fed up of snow and want sunshine, so I asked Mummy to make me waffles for Breakfast.

She said I could have waffles, but I could learn to make them by myself, so here’s what I did:

1- Washed my hands

2- Pluged in the waffle maker to warm up while I made the batter

3- Made the batter: Mix together in a large bowl:

  • 6oz  plain flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 150 - 300 ml milk

You need to add enough milk to get a thick but pourable cream consistency.

4- Pour in just enough batter into the waffle maker and shut the lid. They take a few minutes to cook

5- Take out the waffle, put it onto a plate and add more batter to the waffle maker

6- Keep going until all the batter is gone; this made about 7 waffles

7- Add topping; I had mashed banana and cream with cocoa powder and strawberry jam!

8- Eat up!

Ring Pull Handbag

Ring Pull Handbag

Recently I heard about a charity called the Philippine Community Fund. They make lovely things out of ring pulls, magazines, crisp packets and juice cartons such as purses, jewellery, aprons, lunchboxes and bags.

It’s really fantastic.

The pictures are of some of my favourite items.

The reason they make these pretty things is to help children living on a rubbish dump who are very poor and have no money. They sell them and all the money is used to send the children to school.

I was really excited about it and sent a letter to Ange who runs the office in the UK with a £5 as a donation. She emailed and said she would pick out a girl of the same age as me to sponsor. I can write letters and send money and gifts and the girl can write to me too.
