I was reading my Brownie annual and saw some nice recipes. One was for pasta salad and one was for cheesy bread. I asked Mummy to make them for me but she said I could make them myself!
I had to check the cupboards for all the ingredients and wrote down anything we didn’t have on my own shopping list.
I had to buy tomatoes, a pepper and a tin of sweetcorn. We already had the other ingredients. Mummy gave me the money and I put the things in my basket and paid for them.
When I got home Mummy cooked the pasta for me while I did everything else. Here is how to make pasta salad:
1 Chop 1 stick celery, 8 cherry tomatoes and half a pepper (we had to buy 3 big tomatoes instead because we don’t like to use plastic packaging that cherry tomatoes come in):
2 Put them in a bowl with 2 tbsp sweetcorn and add the cooked, cold pasta. I added some fennel and mint from the garden too.:
3 Mix in 2 tbsp mayonnaise - I used garlic and chive dip instead and Mummy mixed some cream in it which made it taste yummy:
4 All done! Next week I’m going to make cheesy bread. Tell me what your favourite recipe is and I might try it!

Well Done, that looks delicious
Thanks September, it was very nice and I’m glad you like my post!
Congratulations Verona! That looks a marvellously yummy lunch. I hope everyone enjoyed it. I expect Cattus Green would like you to make a chicken lunch one day.
To grandma, I think I know her favourite meal - she likes noodles, cake, biscuits and sweetcorn. She likes other things of course, but these are the most unusual things she likes. She also likes chips. Once she stole a cake from a party bag and when I offered her a piece of cherry cake Mummy had baked one day she grabbed the whole piece instead of a bite; jumped off the trampoline and ate it all herself.
Hi Verona. the pasta recipe looks really nice, I must try it.
My favourite recipe is pasta too.
Put the kettle on to cook the pasta.
Chop and fry two onions until they are transparent add a bit or a lot of garlic and some mixed herbs. Cook a bit more then add two tins of tomatoes. Boil, then simmer until the pasta (which will now be added to a fast boiling water) is cooked.
Drain the pasta and mix in with the sauce, if you are really hungry, put into bowls and sprinkle grated cheese over the top and eat.
If you want to make something more special, the bowls need to be oven proof and you grill the bowl of food until the cheese is sizzling and brown on top.
You can add sweetcorn, peppers, mushrooms, olives or anything else which takes your fancy, before the onions and some fresh basil is good stirred in before dishing up too.
Hello Forestwitchwood,
I like your name - what does it mean? Are you a witch? I like witches! I know they are not scary like they say in books and that they take care of the earth and the animals.
Do you believe in fairies and angels? I do.
Your recipe sounds really nice. I expect I will try it soon and I will tell you how it tastes and whether I like it.
Do you celebrate Easter? If so, I hope you have a good time. We celebrated Ostara instead.

Hi Verona.
Well I am a witch and I live in a cottage on the edge of a wood which makes up part of a big forest.
There are lots of kinds of witches, good and bad.
I believe in working with energy from things and situations, and I believe that you should not do harm deliberately. It can be very hard sometimes.
Now my children have grown up I do not celebrate lots of the seasons changes as I should. We used to though, and we did our own thing for all of them.
Blessings on Ostara.
Dear Forestwitchwood,
Thanks for the comment. I believe that all witches are good and thank you for the Ostara blessings.
I got a new purple bike recently - we mended two punctures on the front tyre but we need to have a look at it again because all the air has come out again! I’ll be writing all about it on my blog soon.
