Mummy signed me up for the Woodland Trust Nature detectives.
A big envelope of things arrived in the post including a wall chart, challenge stickers and activity sheets.
Every Friday we get an email with a challenge to do for the week. This week’s is about playing in streams. I’m lucky that I have a stream right next to my back garden and it’s safe enough for me to play in. There are ideas for making boats to race and if you don’t have a stream, you can make them to race in the bath.
It’s a good way to find out what materials sink or float. Another thing I like to do is play pooh sticks to see whose stick wins the race!
We all made a boat each. Mummy made hers from paper and coloured it with wax crayons to make it more waterproof. I made a raft from polystyrene and Daddy made his boat from an old tetra pak carton.
It was very funny - Mummy’s boat turned upside down and was last, but right at the last minute mine and Daddy’s got stuck and Mummy’s won the race! Hers wasn’t much good afterwards because it filled up with water and then mine sailed backwards.
