Playrangers in the rain again!

The wood cookie I made for Mummy at Play Rangers

The wood cookie I made for Mummy at Play Rangers

Today I went to playrangers again and it poured down with rain all day long.

Three friends came with me and the main activity was a team building challenge. We had a bridge made of rope and we had to have races to see who could get across to the other side first. I won; I took 15 seconds.

Another boy was just one second behind me; so he nearly won.

Another challenge we did was with two planks of wood and six pieces of rope. There were three people in a team. Each person had to place one foot on each piece of wood and we were in a line. Then we had to lift our right foot up while lifting the rope at the same time, then our left foot and we raced boys against girls.

It was fun, but it was difficult.

We also made wood cookies. Wood cookies are like a big necklace made out of wood. We had to choose our circle of wood and decorate it. Mine was decorated on one side with the words ‘I love you’ a big red hearts and blue dots over it and on the other side said ‘Rachelle’ on it and an angel with yellow wings; it was for Mummy.

After we decorated it, we used a hacksaw to cut off pieces of Elm wood beading and with a tent peg we could easily get out the middle of the wood so that we could thread it onto string. We also skimmed all the bark off - you could use a potato peeler if you wanted too, but I scraped it with my nails.

Two of my friends found a really cool den - there were sliding doors made from ivy and a metal carpet and a foot slide. A foot slide is very slippery soil like mud. There was also a big, thick branch which made a good seat.

Mummy loved her wood cookie and that I thought of her and made her a special present. She put it on straight away and wore it home.
