We haven’t done many of the nature detective challenges for a while, but today we went out to look for signs of spring.
Mummy is getting fed up of the snow and grey days and I really want it to be sunny now. We thought Mother Nature might have some pretty things for us to look at to cheer us both up.
My narcissus are already out, but I’ve been looking after them indoors, so it’s nice and warm!
We saw crocuses in my Grandma’s neighbours front garden yesterday. Ours aren’t out yet, but we have some growing in a tub by the back door.
We were really surprised to see this pretty girl underneath a yew tree:
We heard something in the trees and looked up to see birds breaking off twigs for their nests
We saw the tiny green leaves of valerian growing out of the church wall
We saw fluffy catkins hanging off the tree
We saw what we thought was one lonely calendine
We saw buds on my flowering cherry tree. Usually this has flowered and the blossoms have fallen off by now. I’m hoping it will come out for my Birthday, which is what it is supposed to do!
We saw lots of pretty snowdrops - big clumps of them next to a wall and some scattered around the earth
We also saw some other things that we didn’t get photos of:
Some lambs
Some calves
We heard the blackbird practising his songs
Daffodil shoots
Yarrow
Sparrows and bluetits looking inside my bird box
I feel much happier now I can see spring is not far away!
